Potential for recovery of overgrazed lands
Riparian areas - good due to water availability and ability to produce shade that controls vegetation development.
Cryptobiotic crust - unlikely in our lifetime.
Noxious weeds - this depends on the species. For species with biological controls, fair to good; for species that are impractical to control like quackgrass or cheatgrass, the chance of recovery is low. For species that are currently managed with herbicides, success will depend on whether the area can eventually wean itself off of the herbicides, and whether applied chemicals leave any long lasting changes.
